Today I am delighted to share with you what many have been waiting to know: just what exactly is happening for Opening Night this year?
On their first ever Ontario tour, the revolutionary Ensemble Obiora brings their collective talents to our stage to open our 26th season! They are an ensemble that is the first of its kind, with its mission of Diversity, Discovery, and Diffusion at the front and centre of every performance they give. Founded in 2021, the Montreal-based ensemble presents a wide range of music that captures the imagination, bringing people regularly to their feet with tears in their eyes. We have never presented anything like this at SSM before!

This week we had our Annual General Meeting at SSM, followed by the first meeting of the 2026-2027 Board of Directors. If you haven’t seen it, our yearly report (where we admittedly do some bragging) is available online via our website, or you can hit the link below. You’ll see some photos of our 2025 anniversary season and learn more about how SSM does what it does.
It is International Women’s Day this Sunday, and to celebrate, we will be making a big programming announcement for this coming summer! Keep your eyes on your email inbox!
Next week, we present the world famous Ensemble Caprice with their outstanding concert entitled Vivaldi on Fire! These are some of my very favourite musicians in the world, and each performance they give is truly something special. Happening next Wednesday night at the Avondale - I will see you there!
