It’s everywhere! Carl Orff’s wildly popular “O Fortuna” theme bookending Carmina Burana has been heard in films, video games and commercials for decades. This boisterous secular cantata, based on 24 poems discovered in a 13th century German monastery, sings of fate, fortune and folly. Here we’re giving it a unique treatment with a performance by two pianos, four percussionists, four soloists and mass choir.
Also on the program are the brilliant Bergmann Duo who will delight you with two-piano arrangements from West Side Story and joyous music by Brazilian Egberto Gismonti. Stratford’s own Poet Laureate, David Stones, will be featured in a new work by violinist Leo Stock.
Don’t miss this roof-raising opening to our 25th season!
